Dance performances at Nursing Homes

Many rock n roll dancers have donated their time to entertain the elderly at nursing homes and retirement villages around Melbourne.  The residents enjoy watching the dancersand sometimes joining in, singing along to the music, and remembering their youth spent at dances.  Activities co-ordinators are always pleased when rockers volunteer, and the dancers enjoy seeing the smiles on the residents faces and listening to their stories of their dancing days gone by.  If you have some spare time why not contact your local nursing home and volunteer an hour or so to dance for them.

DANCE PERFORMANCE on Thurs 20th and Fri 21st July 2017 @ Hawthorn Town Hall

Red Hot Rockers were invited to perform in an event at the Hawthorn Town Hall on Thurs 20th and Fri 21st July, called the "Inaugural Annual Dance Affair" put on by the Boorondarra Council.

28 students worked hard over 8 weeks to learn a routine to the Olly Murs song "Dance with me tonight". The event was a fabulous night with a sold out crowd on Friday night. The Red Hot Rockers were the opening dance group and filled the floor with red and black outfits and lots of high energy dancing.

For many this was their first taste of performing in front of a crowd and they all loved it. The challenge of learning and remembering over 40 moves, as well as adding styling and flare, was apprecaited by all. The bonding and coming together as a group was also a great experience, as well as the admiration from family and friends who attended the event to watch and cheer us on.

The show was part theatre performance, part mass participation dance event, featuring a whole range of local performers across many dance styles and ages, and also involved professional actors and a live band. The Hawthorn Town Hall is a stunning venue and the lighting, huge mirror ball and atmosphere was electric.

The routine was also performed at several dances in July and Aug. To see several videos of the performance search on youtube for "Red Hot Rockers performance"
